Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

THE TWEET
BORN AT MIDNIGHT is a character rich story of a teen girl, struggling to find her true self and on the way develops unforgettable friends.

WHAT WORKED
As I mentioned above, what stands out the most when reading BORN AT MIDNIGHT are the incredible relationships that Kylie develops at Shadow Falls camp. I loved how C.C. Hunter developed the friendship between Kylie, Della and Miranda. And despite my dislike of romantic triangles, I really liked how Hunter created the relationships between Kylie and Derek and Kylie and Lucas. I especially liked the past relationship Kylie had with Lucas. It made the romantic angle between them have a deeper emotional feel, especially considering that their past encounters were not romance based. I felt Kylie had to overcome more to create an attachment with Lucas, so that when she did, I was able to see the development of both their characters and how their feelings changed from the start of the book.

WHAT DIDN'T WORK
The one part of the book I didn't like was the pregnancy scare with Sara, one of Kylie's friends from her hometown. It seemed like an unnecessary subplot that was thrown in to have Kylie retain some tie to her former life.

OVERALL
BORN AT MIDNIGHT is a great start to the SHADOW FALLS series. I look forward to reading more about Kylie and the other characters introduced in BORN AT MIDNIGHT.
